WESTON SKILLS CAMPUS
The former Clarks Bushacre shoe factory is now home to Weston Skills Campus, which was acquired by the College in 2009. Arturus have been the architects for a number of projects on the site, including the Lord Baker Centre, the Sustainability building and a refurbishment of tea facilities and teaching rooms.

The brief from the College was for a modern design with large flexible spaces and the use of quality materials to promote the image of a contemporary College with excellent education facilities. Teaching spaces are at first floor level and are top-lit, with high levels of natural ventilation.

The Sustainability Centre is a demonstration centre for the teaching of sustainable construction techniques, which is displayed in its sustainable design and construction and delivered on a tight construction programme. The building incorporates a high level of glazing to provide natural light and ventilation, with an overhanging roof for shading on the South elevation. The building is timber framed of panel construction, fabricated off site. It is highly insulated and well sealed, with a sloped roof to house photovoltaic panels.

The most recent project at Weston Skills Campus is the refurbishment of the communal student facilities and teaching rooms.
